Cover Designs
For my cover, i wanted something dramatic something that could stand out from the crowd. My idea for a lot of the scenes involving the fire, is that the fire will be bright and coloured whilst the character will be blacked out. I thought that using this contrast of the fire and the black could make for an interesting and dramatic cover.

Character Designing Part 1
So i did a few character designs for my comic, The story is set around 1920, so i looked at the fashion from those times to play with how the character could look. I blacked them out to see if they would be recognisable as silhouettes Since I am thinking of working with a lot of black figures against fire and strong light, my character needs to be recognisable. A good way to do this was to work with the hat.
My first design gave her pig tales, but I noticed when looking at photos and fashion pictures that no one had there hair up in that fashion, but i did noticed a lot of hats and figured it would be good to work with the girl having a hat.

Looking At Pictures
Cork after it was burnt
London riots - Looked at the burning of some buildings during the London Riots as I way to picture what things could of been like during the fires.
The next set of images are from various Batman comics.

Riots, and fire in other stories, I looked at theses for referencing, also so i can see what images work best and have a more dramatic look to them, The first set of images are from Fisheye Placebo by Yuumei on deviant art.
The next set of images are from various Batman comics.
New project! 1900s - 1920s Based Comic!
So, my latest project has been given. My fast is to produce a 12 page comic based around an event from 1900 - 1920, the events have to based in the Uk, with my target audience being a young adult.
So to begin with I started listing some events that happened within this era, I avoided the well known events such as the Titanic and World war 1, because they have been done so many times, I wanted to tell a different story, something people might not know about.
Below is a mind map i worked on to help me visually see all the events I was interested working with.
After looking into some of the events I was interested in doing the Burning of Cork, or the HMS Lolaire, i decided to do a little research on the two events to try and pick between the too, but both of them seemed like great events to work with. I decided to work on the burning of cork in the end because I felt like I could do some interesting visual image work with the images of Cork burning.

Burning of Cork – during the irish war of
independence (1919 – 1921)
Cork was one of the major centres of the
conflict, many famous figures during the war came from Cork.
Notorious behavior of the black and tans
marked the period
Three best remembered episodes from Cork
during this period are, the burning of Cork City, death of Lord Tomas
MacCurtain, and the death of Lord Mayor Terence MacSwiney.
The Black and tans was a force recruited to
assist the Royal Irish Constabulary, they were formed by former soliders
(RIC) The were created by Winston Churchill
The Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) was
Irelands armed Police force.
Auxilary was a divison of the RIC.
Irish republican army (IRA) was a group of
rebels who faught the bristish forces, made up of Volunteers.
Burning of Cork
11th December night to
morining12 December 1920,
resembled a scene from the Blitz on London.
British forces deliberately set fire to
several blocks of buildings along the east and south sides of Saint Patrick’s
Street
City hall and the Carnegie library
completely destroyed in the fire.
The loss of records stored in City hall and
the library was a huge lose for future historians.
Other buildings destroyed wee Roche’s
Stores, Cash & Co, The Munster Arcade, Egan’s, The American shoe company,
Forrests, Sunner Chemist, and Saxone Shoes.
The Auxilliaries and the Black and Tans
were Allegedly taking revenge for an earlier attack on British Troops.
The Chief Secretary of Ireland, Sir Hamar
Greewood, Denited that Crown forces were responsible.
He also refused demands for Impartial
enquiry which was called by several public figures in Cork.
The Irish labour party and Trades Union
Congress published a booklet called “Who burnt Cork city?” in January 1921,
which featured eye-witness stories to the event, claimbing british forces where
responsible.
It was later proven that the fire was
started by renegade members of a company of Auxiliaries.

Final Video!!
However I had fun drawing the iderfidual images that were used to create the video. I got a lot of inspiration form mcdonalds restraints i visited, such as one in stoke. I also looked at some pictures of old abandoned buildings I had visited.
This is Huncoat power station which was a huge inspiration for my drawings. I looked at theses photos and more to determine how the restaurant would look in a decayed state.
Shots!!
Here are some shots from my video. My idea was to zoom out of a ruined restraint that has been abandoned after McDonnell's destroyed the world.

Week 4 Life drawing.
For this drawing I was looking at showing movement, this is meant to show a person throwing their head back so it would start up right and normal, shown in the grey pencil, then be swung back as if the person is looking up, as shown with the red pencil. The idea for this drawing came from my animation in "Introduction to Animation" where I have a character swinging his head back in pain, i plan to use this image as reference when i come to drawing the animation.
Idea for what I could base my moving image on?
So I was looking for things to do for my moving image, I had the idea of taking the experiment I did with stop motion and doing my walk to Uni in different styles of moving image, however i felt this might be a bit boring. I also had the idea of taking a famous scene from a movie or TV show and making an Anomatic animation with the audio, witch in a way sounded rather fun to me. At the time I went though a post apocalypse obsession and whilst searching for images on google i came across this.
This gave me the idea of doing an animation based on the concept that the huge fast food restaurants would be the down fall of humanity and they would destroy the world. I found this concept rather amusing but at the same time the damage Mcdonalds has on the rain forests is huge all so they have more land for cattle that then get slaughtered to make burgers. Mcdonalds slaughters 67 thousand cows every day to make their burgers and they uses land from the rain forests to create cattle farms. Imagine if the demand for Mcdonalds continues to rise, the more burgers they bring out the more cows they kill, which means they need more cows, they need more land to house these cows, which means the rainforests get chopped down even more. Then add KFC and burger king to the mix and thats a lot of rain forests.
Could one day this result in the end of the world as we know it? Could the oxygen run out because we cut down to many trees so they isn't enough oxygen being produced for us all? Or will the ecosystem just collapse? Ethier way I believe I could have some fun playing with these concepts.
Week 3 life drawings
Ok so with this one i did mess up the face slightly but my main forces of this drawing was the prospective of the leg trying to make it look like it was closer to you then the actual body. I think I got it correct to a degree but i should differently keep working on prospective and foreshortening.

Week 2 Life Drawing
For the second life drawing lesson we looked at shading and highlights. In these two images I believe I have captured the highlight excellently as it is very easy to make out the model in the image. My only fault with this exercise that i can notices is that I did mess up with the 2nd image quite a bit.
1. The hair of the model seems rather flight then it is,
2. some of the shapes in the arms and legs are not right.
1. The hair of the model seems rather flight then it is,
2. some of the shapes in the arms and legs are not right.
To combat these faults I need to take more time observing the shapes that made up the highlights and I should take more time to look at the shapes rather then trying to draw from memory/
Week 1 Life Drawing
So this is one of my life drawing from my first lesson of life drawing (31/01/2014) In my opinion this one turned out the better of the other drawings. I think in this picture he has a strong stance which has been captured well and the shape of the muscles have been drawn well. However I do find it very noticeable that parts of the image are not in proposition, this is something I should build on as it is highly noticeable and disrupts the good quality of the image.

Animatic Animation
I decided to do a little bit of research just so I have a rough Idea of what Animatic Animation is.
"Animatic are animated Storyboards, They are used for various Purposes depending on the medium for which they are being produced. Animatics are used every day in the advertising industry to test commercials. They're used to preview scenes of live-action films before they are shot. You'll find animatics in pre-production stages of animation and in video game industry." - http://www.aboutanimatics.com/

MUTO a wall-painted animation by BLU
Some pretty freaky time laps animation here. I like this kind of animation and how they had taken a lot of quickly photos or parts of film to show the images moving. The images themself where hand painted on walls then painted over to create the next frame which could invovle the first image only moving an inch. This kinda of drawing for the animation and the size it has been done must of taken Blu, the animator, ages to do.
IRON MAN 3 animatic - Mansion Attack
An animatic version of the only good sence in Iron man 3. I like the mixture of 3D animation as well as sketchy drawn images, However I think the mixture could of been done a little bit better but I dont think that is the point of the animation.
Joust Animatic Storyboards
I really like this type of animation, it looks really sketchy and fresh. I think this is done by carefully drawing out each scene and frame and putting them all together, I could imagine this being done with story boarding just before its taken and made properly.
How to make a 2D animation.
Found this rather interesting, would be interesting to give this a try, the only thing i dont really like is how stiff the characters look.
The Struggle - Scroobius Pip
So this isnt much of an animation but I am also looking at things I could use as part of my aduio and to base my animation around. I like the first 1:30 minatues of this video as somthing that builds up to a rather shocking and funny conclusion. I may take this song and mess with the aduio so it only takes 1 min to get to the line "My name is Jonny Depp and I kill people"
Linkin Park - Breaking The Habit (Official Music Video)
I really like the animation done for this video, I like the sketchy drawing style that has been done for it, I'm not too fond of the colouring and I think it would look a lot better if it was in black and white. I think the colour looks a little bit to digital whilst the drawings are traditional, I dont think they work well together and this is why i'm not too keen with the colouring in this video.

EPIC BATTLE !!!!!! Goku vs Superman flipbook animation by etoilec1
The reason I like this is because it is a hand drawn animation done for a flip book. I like how the artist has used a lot of time to draw each small movement of the characters resulting in more then a hundred pages to flip threw.
Magic Moving Images book (HD) by Colin Ord
This is another optical illusion that makes an image look like its moving, but this does it a lot more effectively then my first illusion post. I would love to find out how the screen and the book is made so I could experiment with this kind of image
MINE TURTLE (asdfmovie song)
Apart from having one of the most cheerful songs I have ever heard one of the main reasons I like this animated music videos is because of the way it mixes animation and film together. The animation and film is separated into different scenes and i think it would be interesting to see these images combined into one scene.
Game Grumps Fanimated - Nine Tails, BABY!!
I like two things about this animation, I like the drawing style and the way the animator has used lines for shading, colour and wing direction. He has also used lines to make a shot look dramatic as well as for wind direction, for example when the characters are running, lines come off their bodies. This kind of drawing style has a very sketchy feel about it without colour i believe this drawing style would suit the game grumps batman animation background from my previous post, since that background was made to look like screwed up paper I think theses line drawing (minus the colour) would suit that kind of background and give the animation a sketchy doodling look.
The second thing I like about this video is how the animation flows, the angle is always changing but also moves with the characters as if they are jumping over the camera or running along side of it. The video has good example of perspective as well for example when the camera is closer to the floor the characters feet are a lot bigger indicating that the camera is directly at there feet.
Game Grumps Animated - Batman Trilogy
I find the most interesting part about this animation is the background. It reminds me of doodling in class on some scrap paper, the animation itself works well with the background, the style the characters are drawn in also remind me of small cartoon character you would draw very quickly with the aim of making them funny. However I think the characters would look a lot more interesting if they had a sketchy look to them, I think this would complement the background a lot more.
Moving image
I am not sure if this falls under the category of moving images, however I do like how even though it is not a moving image when you look at it, it does move.
